2017: Things I've Learnt So Far This Year

Hello June!

I am completely baffled by how the hell it is June already. We are already half way through 2017 and I'm speculating here but I think if I blink it might just turn into Christmas. The first half of the year has had highs and lows like any other year, month, week or day but I thought I'd share some of the things that I've learnt so far for 2017.

All or Nothing

I'm an all or nothing sort of person who doesn't seem capable of doing things by halves. I started my HNC two years ago now with the hope of just getting what I needed to study for my degree. I've now not only nearly completed the course with what I need but with some of the highest grades in the class. Sorry to blow my own trumpet here but toot toot, I'm just so proud of myself. Now I just have to complete that last mountain of assignments in the next 4 weeks.

Don't Ask, Don't Get

If you don't ask you don't get. Since January I've put myself and the blog 'out there' a lot more and the reason for this is because I thought why the hell not?! If i'm rejected (which I often am) then I'm no worst off than when I started. The phrase "We only work with more established blogs" is starting to grate though, just a little, but I have some great things coming up on the blog which wouldn't have been possible if I hadn't asked or put it out there.

Political Minefield

It's near impossible to discuss politics without someone getting angry or worked up and intent on their views being the only right ones. I like to discuss politics and hear points of view and considering them in line with my own views to educate myself from all perspectives before going to the polls and making my own informed X in the box. I don't try and impose my views on people as everyone will have varied and individual priorities on both a national and local level.

Love-Hate Relationships

Self-timer is not my friend. I've tried so many attempts at introducing more fashion to my blog as it's something that I really love and want to share with you all but I don't have an instagram/blog-husband who has an eye for a cracking angle or photo and me and the self-timer just fall out. Like all the time. Every time. Watch this space to see if our relationship improves.

The Bigger Picture

You never truly know the whole picture. Everyone is always so quick to jump to conclusions and assumptions with situations without hearing either both sides of the story or looking at the bigger picture and influences. From this I don't think unless you are directly told about the entire situation you will never truly know the whole picture and that just has to be accepted.

It's All About You

It's all about you. If you want to improve something it's up to you to go and do it. If you want to do some good in the world, get out and get volunteering. If you want to improve your blog, you need to focus on improving the content. If you want to try out blue eye shadow, it's up to you to go an give it a go.

2017: Things I've Learnt So Far This Year

What have you discovered about yourself and/or life in this first half of 2017? I'd love to know how it's treated you all.

Also, how beautiful are the 'Fleur' blooms in the pictures?! They are from Bloom and Wild and if you fancy treating yourself or someone else you can get £10 off by entering my name at the checkout. Just simply type in RACHEL CROSS-GRAHAM at checkout to claim the discount. They have some gorgeous peonies in at the moment and they come through the letterbox in the normal post so no need to wait in for the delivery. (not sponsored, I just really love their blooms and flowers in general)

Make sure to follow me on Bloglovin'InstaTwitter and Pinterest to stay up to date with the latest goings on and if you follow in Twitter you'll probably see a lot of ramblings about Love Island as of Monday because I'm just so excited that it's back.
