Life seems to be throwing some very exciting things my way at the moment and I am thrilled. We have had an offer accepted on a house and my decoration planning has gone into overdrive but I've also started a new side-hustle that I can't wait to introduce to you.
If you're not familiar with the term, a side-hustle is a way for somebody to make some extra cash outside of their full-time job. It's also an opportunity to do something that you love and enjoy that you benefit from. Some people teach fitness classes, some have Etsy shops or make homemade cakes and jams etc.
It's becoming increasingly popular, especially with millennials, due to the extra source of income. Many people thought that my blog was my side-hustle, but in all honest I don't make any money from it and I enjoy not having the pressures that earning money from it would bring. If it starts to make money then great, but it's not something that I'm currently striving for.
About a month ago, I actually looked at my finances spreadsheet - evvverything going in and out goes on it - and the amount I was spending on candles was actually silly. Like sillier than Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber. But I love candles. They have so many benefits that I just love from wellbeing and relaxation to bringing back fond memories, the power of a candle is insane. So I looked into how much it would cost to make my own. I could make my own, choose my own scents and enjoy the scented fruits of my own labour. Then James stepped in and suggested that I should sell them and Cross Candle Co was born.
After much experimentation with temperatures, wick sizes, packaging and wax I am now the very proud owner of an Etsy Shop for Cross Candle Co. I now have something productive to do with my spare time other than stress about assignments and watch too much Netflix than is probably healthy.
Cross Candle uses 100% natural Soy Wax and offers options of traditional cotton wicks or innovative wood wicks that produce a gorgeous light crackle that adds an acoustic texture to the candle.

Festive Fig & Snowberry - which is perfect for the upcoming hibernation period now that winter is actually here
Sage & Sea Salt - which is a fresher scent that reminds me of breaking waves on the coast and the feel of fresh air in your lungs. Two more fragrances are launching this weekend that I'm so excited

Everything is so new at the moment that I am still learning a little bit but I am super excited for things to come. Making the candles is something I really enjoy and find strangely therapeutic. The giveaway starts at 17:00PM (GMT) on Tuesday 31st October 2017. The closing date is Sunday 5th November 2017 11:59PM (GMT) and all entries must be received by this time. Entries received after this will not be counted.
The prize consists of:
- 1 x Cross Candle Co 200g Candle of your choice
The prize cannot be exchanged or transferred. Usage of the prize is at the winners discretion.
The competition is open to UK residents, age 16 or over, who must have a valid UK postal address which is not a PO Box.
