Fitness Diary: Marathon Moment of Madness

As you may have seen on my twitter, in a moment of madness I may have just entered the ballot for the London Marathon. Anyone who knows me will understand how much of a big deal this is. The only running I currently do is running a bath so I can relax with a glass of wine and some chocolate. Now what has prompted me to this insanity I hear you ask?

Eighteen months ago I started my job which switched from being on my feet all day to being at a desk. Over these eighteen months I have gained two stone, two dress sizes and lost some of my confidence. I now feel conscious wearing some of my favourite clothes, which is a feeling I really don't like. I recently tried on a dress for a wedding at the end of the month and after a large struggle to get the thing on, it  wasn't even close to zipping up. I mean it's not all bad news as I get a nice new dress, but I cannot afford to re-populate my wardrobe to match the change.

So down to the nitty-gritty..this is the part where I would like to invite you to follow me on my journey to improve my fitness and diet. I'm going to be trying new recipes, new training techniques and new sports as I've heard that marathon training isn't just about running.
